St Christopher’s is the Parish Church serving the Roman Catholic communities of Codsall, Bilbrook, Perton and surrounding areas and is part of the Wolverhampton Deanery of the Birmingham Archdiocese. St Christopher’s Church was first built in 1934, extended in the early 1960’s and re-built on the same site as the old church in millenium year 2000. Subsequently, after the parish debt had been paid off, was consecrated by Bishop McGough on 17th October 2010.
Fr Paul Whieldon is our Parish Priest and was ordained on 14 June 2002.
He joined the parishes of St Christopher's and St Thomas of Canterbury as Parish Priest on 4th August 2015 having served as Parish Priest to Our Lady Queen of Peace, Worcester for ten years.
Fr Paul's Mass of Induction as Parish Priest of St Thomas of Canterbury and St Christopher's was celebrated on Tuesday 3rd November 2015 where he was joined by fellow priests, family and friends.
Our Parish Mission is to work together to:
- Encourage and nurture the young people of our parish
- Cherish the elderly, who are treasures of the parish, offering us the wisdom of their experiences.
A Warm Welcome is extended to all parishioners and visitors to our church and Services . If you are new to the Parish, or if you are an occasional visitor please introduce yourself to Fr. Paul.
We are most anxious to help anyone:
- who cannot celebrate Mass with us because of illness or age – (please contact the presbytery)
- who wishes to receive the Sacraments – (please contact the Presbytery)
- who is in hospital – (please notify the Presbytery)
Our Parish Forum chaired by an elected parishioner, and to which all parishioners are encouraged to attend, meets twice a year when representatives report and update the parish on the activities of all the parish organisations/ministries. Fr Paul does likewise with respect to his ministry and informs the meeting on current deanery and diocesan issues and activities. Minutes of this meeting are published after the meeting and can be seen on the events page.
Our coffee club meets on Tuesdays at 2.30 pm where all are welcome to come along for a social chat.
Catholic Newspapers and publications are available in the Church Hall and local, Diocesan and National Events and items of interest are advertised on the notice boards.
Our Piety Stall provides a wide range of religious articles, pamphlets, prayer books, cards rosaries etc and special items can be ordered.
St Christopher’s is an active and dynamic parish and there are many ways in which parishioners are encouraged to join in the life an work of the parish and wider Christian community. Many of the groups that support the work of the Parish Priest would welcome new members. (For more information go to “Organisations” page of this website)
